Mary was married to Joseph Robert Kayata on September 23, 1956; they were married for 62 years.
Mary is survived by her daughter Lisa and son-in-law Jeremy, her three grandchildren Alexandra, Vanessa, and Jonathan, her great-grandson James, and her brother Anthony.
Mary was born in Brooklyn, New York on September 1st, 1925 and lived in Brooklyn until July 2018 when she moved to Scarsdale to live with her daughter after her husband’s passing.
Mary was a person of strong faith whose greatest love was for her family. She will be remembered for her extraordinary strength and humor, her love of her dogs, her passion for sports and film, and her wisdom about navigating life’s challenges. She was selfless in her desire to protect, care for, support, and provide for her family, which was also her greatest pleasure. She will be missed beyond measure.
The funeral service will be held at 10am on February 27th, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. Msgr. Luke Sweeney of IHM will be officiating. Visitation will be held on February 26th from 11am-2pm and 4pm-7pm at Edwin L. Bennett Funeral Home. Interment will follow the funeral at St. Johns Cemetery in Queens, New York.
