Mary B. Andruss passed away peacefully on Tuesday April 8th at the age of 79 surrounded by family. Mary was born to Andrew and Margaret Bradish on November 26, 1945, in Virginia, Minnesota, in the state’s northern Iron Range. She graduated from Virginia Senior High School in 1964 and then Virginia Junior College in 1966 with a degree of Associate in Arts.
In that same year (1966) Mary enrolled and completed training with the Eastern Airlines Stewardess program. As a stewardess with Eastern, Mary was based in Queens, New York and began a lifetime of travel adventures around the world. Mary met Tom Andruss on a blind date in New York’s Central Park and they were married on August 17,1968. They settled in the Andruss family home at 6 Shady Lane in Eastchester where they lived until this year. Mary was proud to have been honored by the archdiocese in 2018 at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Mary and Tom raised three sons in Eastchester, and she remained active in the community. Mary was particularly involved with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale, Fordham Preparatory School in the Bronx, and Opus Dei. She also enjoyed spending time entertaining at home, visiting her sons and their families, and engaging in discussions with her seven grandchildren.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Andrew Bradish and Margaret Bradish; and her younger sister, Andrea Olson.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Tom, and her loving sons: Thomas of Sleepy Hollow, NY (Michelle); James of Scarsdale, NY (Jill); and Charles of Greenwich, CT (Germaine). She is also survived by her younger sister, Barbara Bogen of Sioux Falls, SD, two brothers-in-law, Loren Bogen of Sioux Falls, SD, and Richard Olson of Duluth, MN, and nieces and nephew, Maria Agrawal, Jeffrey Bogen, Angela Reiber, and Chrissy Nordehn.
Mary was a proud grandmother to her seven grandchildren: Abigail Andruss, Carolina Andruss, Margaret Andruss, William Andruss, Christina Andruss, Katherine Andruss and Thomas Andruss.
Services will be held at Bennett Funeral Home in Scarsdale from 3-7 pm on Friday, April 25, 2025, and a funeral Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale, NY on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at 10:00 am.
