My heart was crushed when I received this sad news yesterday. My most heartfelt sorrow to the entire family.  When I returned home and shared the news with my sister, we looked at each other and said the last of the best is gone from us. Dr. Ricci was family to us, just as he treated all.....as family. He was on my heart so often, as I was led to pray. A constant support as well as medical caregiver for our family for more than 50 years.  Always a kind and compassionate heart. When my father was sick, he visited us, as family would. Sat and talked with us sharing his heartfelt sorrow for the season we were in. He did the same for my mother, called me to check on us. Whenever I was going thru a trial he would call and talk to me, offer encouragement and reassurance all would be well. We placed our trust in him because we knew his knowledge, and wisdom would never fail us. Anytime a new family came into the neighborhood, my parents always say if you want a good, caring doctor just walk around the corner to Dr. Ricci on Burke. There's always a crowd in the waiting area but he's worth it. Always took time to listen, offering always the best advice and a great sense of humor. Sometimes, I'd see him on the avenue and he would always greet us with a hug, as family. I know without a doubt he is enjoying paradise. A true heart for the things of God. Till we all meet again, in the meantime I can only imagine the greeting he was welcomed with from all who knew and had the honor of calling him their Doctor. As we called him Doctor with respect and with love we called him Zio as family, 🙏🏻❤️

So sorry just found out about the passing of Dr .Ricci he was the best doctor around and was our doctor for many years my mom loved him trusted him he was always there to listen and help and his mom was just so adorable may he Rest In Peace and may his family know that he’s watching over them and wi be with him always those were the best times in the Bronx and having Dr Ricci right there on Burke Ave ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏in our thoughts and prayers always    Margaret Lunghi

Dr. Ricci delivered me in 1965 at Pelham Bay General.  He was my mother's first doctor when she came from Italy.  He saved my father's life when he was just 50 years old simply by looking into his eyes. He was the family doctor and my personal doctor for over 30 years.  I have vivid memories of his office on Burke Ave.--the smells, the pictures on the wall, the leather chairs,  and his dear mother (Signora) knitting and crocheting in the waiting room. He was super intelligent, and in my opinion, the best doctor there ever was. Even many years after I was "officially" his patient because I moved to another state,  he generously asked me to call him when I was suffering from what seemed a mysterious illness. He correctly diagnosed my(thankfully not serious) illness in a 10 minute  phone conversation and quickly put my mind at ease.  Other doctors were stumped for over a year with all kinds of tests and resources at their disposal.  Dr. Ricci was amazing.  A GREAT doctor through and through.  My family and I trusted him implicitly. He made us feel safe and cared for and never let us down.   May he rest in peace.

Mario has been an inspiration for me for essentially my entire career. I clearly recall him providing advice to me as far back as my pre med college days. He represents a generation of “true” physicians who not only had multi disciplinary knowledge and skill but also had an intimate relationship with the families that he treated.
But best of all we admire his love and devotion to family along with his interest in the arts and culture while always having a great sense of humor.
Mario you will be missed but not forgotten.
