John Kevin Keane was born on November 27th, 1956 in Bronxville, New York. Kevin attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School in Scarsdale and played on the CYO basketball team. He attended Eastchester High School where he was on the track team and excelled at the hurdles. He then went on to Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.
A member of the infamous Motley Crew Softball Team, ‘Cowboy’ as he was affectionately referred to, was a clutch hitter and had a real passion for the game. He was a team player and often led by example. After college, Kevin owned and operated Keane’s Bakery with his brother James and his sister-in-law Julie. He baked for many years and was extremely dedicated and hard working, getting up at 2:00am most mornings to prepare for the day. His specialty was crumb buns and banana cream pies. His many nieces and nephews enjoyed helping in the bakery, where he often let the kids eat whipped cream out of the bowl.
Kevin was a kind, thoughtful man who really cared about everyone in his life. He never complained and was very selfless. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed watching the New York Giants. Sunday football games gave him much pleasure. Alabama Football was another passion for Kevin. He found joy in reading suspense novels.
Kevin is survived by his parents Dick and Judy Keane, his siblings Kate (Tim) Ryan, Patty (Jed) Petrick, Tom (Sue) Keane, James (Teka) Keane, Gail (Todd) Leone, and his brother-in-law John Sardella. He is predeceased by his sister Margaret Sardella. Kevin was a fun and special uncle to his 24 nieces and nephews.
