He was born on June 27, 1936 to Charles and Appolonia Spiegel in The Bronx, New York.
Charles graduated from Manhattan College in 1958 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He then received his Master’s Degree in Business from City College of New York in 1961. Afterwards, in 1964, he became a certified public accountant. In 1966, he continued his education by receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from New York Law School. He passed the New York State Bar later that year and started Helen Realty. Then in 1968, he started and owned his own law firm. Afterwards, in 1969, he proceeded to graduate from New York University with a Master’s Degree in Law. With a love and passion for traveling, he opened ChazTravel in 1977. He then passed the State Bar of Arizona in 1980 and also passed the State Bar of Texas in 1994.
Charles is survived by his ex-wife and best friend, Teresa Spiegel; his two brothers, Theordore and George Spiegel; his four children and their spouses, Helen and Frank Raguso, Paulette Spiegel and Rod Burns, Philip and Joy Spiegel, and Kimberly Savignano; and his eleven grandchildren, Frank, Christina, Joseph, Hope, Charles, Philip, Gianna, Paul, Camille, Nicole, and Samantha. Charles was a devoted and loving father. His greatest joys were his grandchildren. Papa Charlie loved any opportunity to be with them. He visited and cheered them at their games and dance recitals. Every Christmas he made sure to visit all of his grandchildren while being dressed up as Santa with a bag full of presents. Papa loved to bring them back gifts from different countries, teach them how to play chess, and sing them his favorite song, Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah.
Charles had a life full of adventure and was always surrounded by a loving family. And as the song goes, he did it his way
