Yvonne C. Feres

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Yvonne Feres, at her residence, Harmony Hills Care Community, on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. Yvonne was 19 days short of her 94th birthday.

Beloved wife of the late Michael Aston Feres (2006) for 53 wonderful years.

Loving mother of Michael Joseph (Debra), Anne-Patrice Constance (Anthony), and Margaret-Mary Therese.

Cherished “Nanny” to grandsons Michael Joseph Moses, Antoine Theodore Maurice, Paul Anthony (Chalei), and Shaun Andrew-Patrick (Juhen, fiancée); and “GiGi” to great-grandson Jaxon Kia’i.

Treasured older sister of Rita and Trevor and the late Denis (2006), Pauline (2021), and Noel (2009); and dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Yvonne exemplified dedication to her family. After graduating high school from Convent of Mercy Academy (“ALPHA”) in Kingston, Jamaica, she worked tirelessly to help support her mother, Leontine, and her five younger siblings. Her love and dedication reached a new phase when, at 24, she married the love of her life, Michael. Together, they raised three children: Joe, Anne, and Meg.

In her twenties, Yvonne committed her professional efforts to the study of massage therapy and spent 50+ years as a Registered Massage Therapist. Her Roman Catholic faith was a constant source of hope and strength – it sustained her over the years. She made time throughout her life to serve her parish communities in both Jamaica and Canada, in a variety of ways.

Special thanks to the caregivers and staff at Harmony Hills Care Community for their compassionate and excellent care over the last 12 years.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Yvonne’s name to your parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society or to one of your community’s food banks would be appreciated by the family.

A Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 10:30 am (EDT) at St. John Chrysostom Roman Catholic Church; 432 Ontario Street, Newmarket, ON L3Y 2K4.

Interment will be immediately following funeral mass at St. John Catholic Cemetery; 250 Main Street North (roughly a 3-5 minute drive)
