December 22, 1964 – April 27, 2023
With deep sadness, we share that our beloved and beautiful Kim passed away on Thursday April 27, 2023, at the age of 58. She leaves behind her devoted husband Jim, sons Shawn (Erin) and Michael, her mother Jenny and sister Pat (Greg), nephew Thomas and niece Lauren, sister-in-law Sharon, and extended family in Toronto and Prince Edward Island. Kim was pre-deceased by her father Michael in 1996.
Kim was born and raised and spent her entire life in Toronto, graduating from Victoria Park Secondary School and then Seneca College and Humber College, ultimately finding her true passion in flowers and plants through her landscaping company Living Landscapes. Her passion will live on through the thousands of daffodils and tulips she planted in dozens of gardens around the city, that will pop up at this time of year and always remind us of her presence and the season of her passing.
Kim met her true love Jim at a Halloween party in 1984 and never looked back. They married in 1989 and a few years later they brought first Shawn and then Michael into the world and their family was complete. The family settled in south Scarborough near the Scarborough Bluffs and the Cathedral Bluffs Yacht Club, the site of Kim and Jim’s wedding reception and many happy family times on Jim’s parent’s sailboat in the early years of their marriage.
Kim’s interests included puttering around in her garden, cottaging with friends, doing puzzles, and always trying to learn something new, like teaching herself to speak French and learning to crochet. More than anything, she loved her boys – Jim, Shawn, Michael and chocolate lab Bowie - and wanted the best for them always.
Our time with Kim was too short.
A visitation will be held at Paul O’Connor Funeral Home, 1939 Lawrence Avenue East, Scarborough (just west of Warden Avenue) on Wednesday, May 3rd from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service at 11 a.m. For those that wish to pay their respects, the casket will be open from 9:30 until 10:15 a.m. at which time the casket will then be closed. Following the service at 11 a.m. there will be a reception at the funeral home. The interment service will be held at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 305 Erskine Avenue at 3 p.m. following the reception, all are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, Kim’s family suggests a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society or Myeloma Canada in Kim’s memory. Or simply plant a perennial or shrub or tree in your garden in her honour.
