It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our dear father, Anthony Frank Stauder, affectionately known as Tony, who passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 90. Loving husband of the late Elizabeth Stauder (deceased 2020). Beloved father of Frank (Lisa), Elaine (David) and Stephen (Lisa). Loving grandfather of six precious grandchildren: Dan (Tracy), Sarah, Josh (Melanie), Elora, Victoria and Timmy. Loving great-grandfather of Malakai. Dear brother of Matthew, Frances and the late Shirley. Beloved son of Frank and Mary Stauder. Loving uncle, cousin and friend of many.
Born on June 21, 1934, in Guelph, Ontario, he spent his childhood in Guelph and Welland, moved to Toronto for his adult life where he raised his children. He spent his later years in Newmarket with his daughter, where he cherished his time with family and friends.
Tony held a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and taught statistics at Ryerson University. His career was marked by significant contributions to the fields of quality control and nuclear energy, working as a manager for both Atomic Energy of Canada and Ontario Hydro. He took great pride in his role overseeing the construction of nuclear power plants overseas, both in Europe and China, a testament to his expertise and dedication.
As a cancer survivor when he was 80, Tony continued to relish life and was a man of many passions. He loved dancing, camping, travelling and loved sharing laughter and memories over a beer with family and friends. He was always building something, whether it was an addition on the house, a front porch or the interlocking brick driveway where he made each brick himself.
Tony will be remembered for his infectious spirit and his motto, "Don't get old," which reflected his youthful approach to life. He found joy in the simple pleasures, and his proudest accomplishments included his children's successes and the cherished moments spent in nature camping. He also contributed much of his time to associations such as the Cub Scouts and the Management Society of Quality Control.
He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and the warmth of shared camaraderie. Tony's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him and shared in his adventures.
Special thanks to the caring doctors, nurses and staff at Scarborough Grace Hospital.
