Robert Eugene Smith

He was born in St. Catherine, Missouri, and was preceded in death by a daughter, Elaine Smith Holley; his parents, Theresa Leah Rauer Smith and Freddie Earl Smith, his stepfather, Herbert Peper, 5 brothers and 1 sister.

He was a veteran, having served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, and was retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Elizabeth Dickey Smith, of Savannah, Ga; a daughter, Dianne Smith Jenkins (Ron) of Marietta, Ga; 4 grandchildren, Shelley Barrett (Jon), Jessica Bookhoop (Josh), Austin Holley (Megan), and Dalton Holley, 8 great grandchildren, 1 great- great granddaughter, and a brother, Herbert Peper (Janet)

Visitation: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel.

Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Hartman, officiating.

Entombment with Military Honors will be conducted at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
