Mary Dixie Pettitt

Mary Dixie Pettitt “Bumbie”, 96, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 27, 2014, at her residence with her family at her bedside, under the care of Island Hospice. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Franklin Pettitt.

Mary was born and raised in Lumberton, North Carolina and has lived in Savannah for the past 40 years. She attended Grace Primitive Baptist Church.

Mary is survived by two daughters; Mary C. Wasson (Fred), Kay Poston all of Savannah; five grandchildren, ten great-grand children, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Fairhaven Funeral Home

Funeral Service: 11:00a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014, in the Chapel of Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with Rev. Benjamin Fordham officiating. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memory Garden.
