Joseph Daniel Hagan, SSG Army retired, 86, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015 at Hospice Savannah. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniel Hagan and Ellie Brewton Hagan Parrish; four siblings, John, Harry, Nell and Leona, one nephew, and one niece. Joseph was born on Sept. 16, 1928 in Bulloch County. In 1948 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, and retired after 20 years of service. While stationed at Ft. McClellan, AL, he met and married the love of his life, Cpl. Doris Goins (aka Jeannie). After retirement from the U.S. Army, Joseph worked in the maintenance dept. of Georgia Regional Hospital in Savannah and retired after 20 years. After their second retirement, Joseph and Doris traveled extensively to over 30 countries and six of the seven continents including Antarctica. In addition to his beloved wife of 58 years Doris, he is survived by a son, Paul Hagan (Patty); three daughters, Doris Hagan-Brown, Laura Mecale, Angie Hagan; nine grandchildren, Tiffiny, Tabitha, Isaac, Elizabeth, Genar, Fiora, Darcy, Rory, and Annze; one great-grandson, David; a sister, Sarah Fowler; several nieces and nephews. Visitation: 5 - 7p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, 2015 at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Service: 10:00a.m. Saturday. Feb. 21, 2015 at Higher Ground Baptist Church, (formerly Cresthill Baptist Church) with Rev. Andy Vaught and Rev. Ken Jerningan officiating.
