Glenn Barnes Jacobs

A native of Grove City, PA, he graduated from Grove City College with a Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Science. Glenn worked in the steel industry for 45 years as a Chief Metallurgist and General Superintendent of Metallurgy for Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company and also Sharon Steel. In 1993, he and his wife, Shirlee, retired and moved to Surfside Beach, SC.

An avid tennis enthusiast, he was the son of the late Wayne and Mary Jacobs of Grove City, PA.

Glenn was a veteran of the US Army and served his country during WWII in Korea and Japan.

He is survived by wife, Shirlee of 34 years, his daughter Donna ( Roy ) Chismar of Pigeon Forge, TN, son Timothy ( Linda ) Jacobs of Cleveland, OH, step sons—Duncan ( Brenda ), Stephen ( Audine ), David ( Claudia ) and Michael ( Ginny ). Grandchildren—Brooke, Dawn, Deanna, Troy, Timothy, Stephanie, Krista, Ryan, Micah, Kyle, Liberty, Danielle, Caleb, Tyler, Benjamin, Chloe, Colin, Lee, Joshua and Mia; and great grandchildren Ryan, Branden, Luke and Troy .

Visitation will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 4 until 6 o’clock at Fairhaven Funeral Home – Hubert C. Baker Chapel, 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah. A funeral will be held Monday, June 8, 2015 at 11 o’clock at Harvest Church of the Nazarene, 5995 Waters Ave, Savannah. Interment will be private.
