Doris Hutson Smith, 89, of Savannah, passed away on January 6, 2013 under the care of Odyssey Hospice. “Dada”, as she was lovingly known by her family, worked for many years as a switchboard operator at St. Josephs Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of Radiant Life Assembly of God for over 40 years where she also taught Sunday School. She loved taking care of her home and her family. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years Charles William Smith, brother George Lee Hutson, and sisters Valeria “Dee” Henry and Ethel Lou Webb. She is survived by her sons Roger William Smith(Brenda) of Savannah and Charles “Charlie” Glenn Smith(Julia) of Dallas, TX, grandchildren Billy Smith(Jenny), Brandi Ashford(Jareb), Joshua Smith, and Kristen Smith, ten great grandchildren, sister Martha Wise of Savannah, brothers Harvey Hutson(Judy) of Bluffton, SC, and John Hutson(Linda) of Savannah, as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C.
