Yvonne Marie Smith

SMITH, Yvonne Marie (nee Turpin) – At St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto with her family by her side, on Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the age of 71. Dear wife of Danny Smith. Loving mother of Dan Jr. (Margaret), and Jennifer Gray (Neil). Proud grandmother (Granny) of Ellin, Alec and Penni Smith, Mika Gray and Spencer Capson-Gray. Daughter of the late Margaret and Alex Turpin. Sister of Betty Gjos (late Stan), late Barb Nichols (Frank), and the late Bob Turpin (Sandra). Sister-in-law of Bob Smith (Dorothy), Les Smith (Doreen) and the late Brian Smith. Yvonne was a respected teacher with the Catholic School Board for over 30 years, and a dedicated volunteer with the local Canadian Cancer Society. She was a dear aunt, cousin and friend to many, and she fought to the very end for her family. Friends may call at the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 from 6 – 9 pm. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 1 pm. Memorial contributions made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart & Stroke Foundation will be greatly appreciated. Special thanks to the staff at St. Michael’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit for their gentle and kind care of mom during her last days.
