KUSKOWICZ, Mary (Derlaga) – Welcomed into God’s loving arms, Mary peacefully passed away surrounded by family at the F.J. Davey Home on Friday, February 13th, three months shy of her 100th birthday. Predeceased by the love of her life John, infant son Kazimierz, and parents Franciszek and Bronislawa. Loving mother of Roman Kuskowicz (Alicja), Irene Brandstetter (late Helmut), Theresa Gregory (Doug), and Luise Morano (Ken). Mary was proud grandmother to Robert Brandstetter (Karen Kew), Thomas Brandstetter, Jennifer Gernon (Mark), David Gregory (Soula), Michael Morano (Roxanne Finkelstein), Christopher Morano (Sarah Templeton), and Sarah Morano (Doug Williams). Great grandmother of Anika and Darius Kew Brandstetter, Mia and Patrick Gernon, Matthew Gregory, Isabel and Norah Morano, Lauren and Nigel Morano. Born in Debno, Poland, Mary was one of eight children. She overcame much adversity from her early life in Poland to a forced labour farm in Germany during World War II. After the war, John and Mary moved to Belgium and eventually to Canada to provide a better life for their family. Mary worked hard all of her life, was an example of strength and perseverance and a woman of immense faith. At the age of 13, Mary made a commitment to pray the rosary every day because of her strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary. After their retirement, Mary and John enjoyed travelling back to Poland, and to many places in Europe and the United States. The family would like to thank the kind and compassionate staff of Birch Lane 1 at the F.J. Davey Home for their exceptional care of Mary during the past two years.
