Josephine "Josie" Long

Beloved wife of the late Lester and mother of the late Robert "Bobby". Loving mother of William "Bill" (Gisèle Celetti), Kathryn Smelly (late Robert), and Frederick "Rick" (Annette). Cherished grandmother of Darren, Jamie, Joey, late Dustin, Joanne, Ashley and Jeremy. Proud great grandmother of 8 and great great grandmother of an expected baby girl in April. Predeceased by her parents Frederick and Katherine (nee Collia) Sadowski, her sister Doreen Swinney (late Gary) of Simi Valley, California and her brother Fred Jr. (late Denise). Dear sister of Donald Sadowski (Katherine) and Angela Damignani. Also survived by many nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States.

After raising her family, Josie felt it was important for her to contribute. She enrolled in the income tax preparation course with H&R Block. Over her 45 year career, Josie taught the art to countless individuals as well as building lifelong friendships with clients and colleagues. At her retirement, Josie was among the longest serving associates in Canada and the longest serving associate in Sault Ste. Marie.

The family would like to thank all Doctors, Nurses, PSW's, Paramedics, Varago, West End Pharmasave, volunteers and all other support services who provided care for our mother in the last four years. There are far too many to name, you know who you are, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A special thank you to the staff at ARCH for making the final days of Mom's life filled with care and compassion.

Family and Friends are invited to Arthur Funeral Home - Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East; 705-759-2522) for a Memorial Service on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 am. with Rev. Helen Smith officiating. Reception to follow. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Memorial donations payable (by cheque or online) to ARCH would be appreciated by the family.
