I had just gotten my driver's license and somehow the four of us brothers ended up in Michigan at the only casino at he time.  I think we were there to meet up with cousin Dave Lesage.  Usually Dave travels up with somebody but this I think he was travelling solo. Anyways at the end of the night after socializing (drinking) all day, it was, time to part ways.  Realizing Dave was heading home alone, Clifford climbed in the back seat and said,"I'm going to Luna Pier."  Bear  looked at me and said, "Fine, leave him and climbed into the back of his Ford LDTII and said,"Take me home, BOY". (heavy on the boy) So away we went, me hoping I would remember the way home! In the fall of 1987, after asking Sue to marry me and she said yes...I went to Freddy Bear's for a visit.  After some conversation I looked at Bear and he looked at me.  Without me saying anything Bear said, "I accept".  He knew before I asked him if he would be my Best Man and he gave me his answer before I asked.  Thanks Bear!!   Love from your bro Mickey

I'm going to miss my Uncle Bear. Even tho I couldn't make it to be there with him, my thoughts and love were with him. There's so many good memories we shared. But there is one that I'd like to share with you.  Uncle Bear was moving from his two bedroom apartment on the second floor to his 3 bedroom apartmenton on the first floor in the same building. There wasn't much people to help move the heavy stuff, so my mom told Uncle Bear to wait until I arrived so that I could help him move the heavy stuff.  He looked at my mom with doubt, but my mom didn't have any.  After helping bring all the heavy stuff downstairs, he looks at my mom and said, "she wiry". My mom said I told you.

I have known uncle Bear all my life, so I have a lot of memories and stories.  One thing he was known for was his "spaghet and mashed taters".  For as long as I can remember that's what we ate when we stayed for dinner.  Every time I went back to the Sault after moving to BC I looked forward to my "traditional" dinner.  It's so good and yet very simple and I think everyone should have it because it is that good.  If you don't know how to make it his way, it'll never be as good no matter how many times you try.  I know because I have failed many times and gave up on it until recently.  I considered myself very lucky when uncle Bear taught me how to make it on my last visit in February 2012, and that is one memory I will cherish forever and am proud to share.

There are so many great stories and good times that come to mind when I think of this man. There wasen't a day where you, me, or anyone for that matter, could walk in to Uncle's house and he wouldnt have a smile on his face. He was always so happy and cheerful. There wasen't a day where Uncle didn't have something funny to say, or a funny story to tell. One thing he always made me do was laugh. He always said the right things, at the right times. He's inspired me to achieve many  accomplishments through-out my life. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you Uncle Bear.
 
You know... It's an amazing feeling, when you can close your eyes and know exactly what he would say. He's made a huge difference in my life and he will always be in my heart. I love you Uncle Freddy-Bear.

Early start of winter ‘86 when I was 17, I arrived home to the Mission after night shift and tried to wake Bear a few times to see if I could borrow his Ford LTD to do chores in town.  A few attempts later and he was awake enough that I gave him his pants to grab his car keys for me.  I went downstairs and outside to his car and turned the ignition on to warm up the car.  I looked up to the bedroom window where he had been sleeping and saw that he was looking out the window and laughing.  You see…we had a major snow storm the night previously and he knew his car was banked high on all sides with snow and drifts and would definitely need to be shovelled out.  He laughingly lent me his car, not knowing that I had already shovelled it out before I asked.  All these years later, and we both still laughed about it.

Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.

i'm really sorry to hear about Freddy's passing.I worked with Freddy for many years after he came to the soo.The D Turn gang will miss him.We all send our condolences.Once again sorry.

Bonnie, so sorry to hear of the passing of your brother.  My thoughts are with you and your family at this sad time.  Hoping that your son, Bill is doing ok with the passing of his father and now his Uncle and just recently his Aunt Pat.

So sorry to hear of Freddies passing.Have many fond memories of trips to Wawa to visit Aunt Freda and uncle Fred and play with my cousins.This is truly a sad time for our family.

Our deepest, heartfelt sorrow and condelences to our dear cousins and aunt Freda.  This is truly a sad time for all of us as we remember our dear cousin Freddy Bear who was taken so young.  He always was an upbeat and happy person who always attended at family functions.  Truly a man who loved his family and relatives, no doubt.  Aunt Shirley was telling us a story,remembering Freddy Bear to be one of a nurturing and caring person.  She recalls one time when Freddy was visiting them and he took younger cousins George and Tommy to the near by store for pop and chips, and instead brought back 2 loafs of bread and told his younger cousins that bread was much healthier than chips and pop.  I would imagine young Georgie and Tommy weren't too pleased with that choice of a treat...lol.. 

Rest in Peace dear cousin and friend.  We will always remember you as "our" Freddy Bear.  Love Aunt Shirley, and cousins George and Mary
