Some of my favourite memories growing up include the times I would spend at the Leask cottage feeding the chipmunks. I'll miss waking up on the weekends to hear Amazing Grace playing from next door.

So sorry Ken, to hear of your father's passing. Dave and I always enjoyed seeing him at the cottage. He told us his father dated Dave's Mother, Hazel Snow, Aunt Lilly's sister. Cottage times just will never be the same knowing that Don won't be up again.  He was a treasure for sure.  
Don and Jo were such a part of our summer when we were up on Manitoulin .Don helped teach our Jeffrey how to drive the motor boat, a year when we did not have one.  It was a very special summer.
Kenny, you will HAVE to carry on with Amazing Grace on Sundays.."It's Tradition".

Dear Leask Family:  Although we never stayed in very close touch , your Dad was always one of my very favourite relatives to run into when I was young and even as my time in the Sault became visits.  He always had the most pleasant demeanor, always had a ready laugh.  I can imagine that he was a GREAT grampa. My most sincere condolences to all. Hugs

I was so sorry to hear about your father.  The last time I saw him was right before he moved from the house...I wish that I had gone over and given him my usual hug!  Your parents were wonderful people and neighbours, there is an emptiness on the street now. How could I forget about the hockey tournament that my brother has reminded us of!!  Your family has brought much fun and joy to the street.  May you find strength at this time from your neighbours and your wonderfully close family.

I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father and grandfather Don. I have great memories of my Dad playing lawn darts with Don and Ken. I also remember playing the boxing day Leask invitational hockey tournament with Don as an official.
In my younger days I remember Don playing the organ and I was allowed to sit and watch him play( always amazed me how someone could understand how to use so many peddles, keys and switches)
I will always remember Don as a friendly, always happy neighbour. When I was young he remided me of the friendly Giant, tall, soft spoken and kind.

I will always remember your Dad (and Mom) with fondness. They were always kind nieghbours. I even remember sleeping over at their house when I was little and having "Puffed Rice" for breakfast! Another memory is your Dad barbequeing in the back yard with the sound of the rotisserie and the wonderful smells. Always wondered why my Dad never did that!
Never did get to see any of the "home movies" that your Dad told me he had with us in them. Enjoyed the photos too.

Dear Ken Leask and Family.
My mother and brother called me to let me know about your sad news.  

We have been neighbors (one door down) for almost 50 years (my family moved to 20 Southwood just before I was born).  Although it has been over 20 years since I moved away from Sault Ste Marie, I have many fond memories of a wonderful community and our great neighborhood.  

"The Leask's"  were always well admired and respected by my parents.  Our family has a favorite photo of Connie and Ken with when they were much younger and Southwood Drive was gravel and the many trees (and not many houses) were aflame in brillianr fall color.  

I greatly appreciated seeing Mr. Donald Leask at the time of my father's funeral in August 2008.  It is difficult to express in words and I believe each person we meet does leave a mark on our lives and Don has a honoured place for me as one of growing up and the neighbourhood in Sault Ste Marie.  

I enjoyed seeing the photos in your website gallery which celebrates Donald Leask's life.  It is clear that he lived life to its fullest and was blessed with a great family and friends.  As I miss my own father, I know Don will be greatly missed by many.  
I just wanted to let you know we were thinking of you at this difficult time.  On behalf of my mother and brother I was very appreciative to be able to leave a message in your guest book.  I am grateful that even though I am in Idaho that I can stay connected with my roots in Sault Ste Marie and remember some wonderful people such as your dad.

Our hearts are sad for you.  May precious memories give you all much comfort.

I was sorry to hear that your father passed away.  I had enjoyed seeing him last year and was hoping to go for a little visit next time I was up in the Soo.
It was interesting to see the many photos.  While this time is always difficult and he will be missed, I am sure good memories will help.
