Wayne Harold Marion Davis is now at peace after a valiant battle with cancer. The memory of his smile, humour and singing voice will never be forgotten. He will be greatly missed by friends and family including his loving wife Joyce (nee Stengrim) Davis, daughter Kathleen Davis-Lepage, son-in-law Philippe Lepage, brother Lionel (Ruth) of White Fox and sister-in-law, Carol Neill of Winnipeg, MB. Wayne was born March 6, 1939 on a farm near Springside, SK, spending his growing years in Nipawin. His zest for life and genuine interest for people was shown in his many friendships and connections to the community. Wayne met his best friend and love of his life, Joyce, in 1960. They married in 1965 and welcomed daughter Kathleen in 1970. This close-knit family shared many wonderful times and has so many wonderful memories of togetherness. Wayne began his work with SGIO in Regina in 1958, transferring to Saskatoon in 1985, retiring after a long and fulfilling career of 42 years with SGI. He was a property inspector, well-travelled and known throughout the province. The opportunity to meet people and serve the community was the highlight of his work and he spoke of it many times with pride. Music was always an important part of Wayne, he sang his way through life! His passion for song came out in his beautiful tenor. Early on, he won the Nipawin Music Festival in Voice. This continued throughout his life as he sang with the Regina Male Voice Choir, the Regina St. David’s Welsh Choir, the Regina Knox Metropolitan United Church choir, and in Saskatoon, the St. Paul’s and Mayfair United Church choirs and University chorus. Wayne fell in love with barbershop music in 2000, singing with Chimo Barbershop Chorus, Riverside Octet, Beaver Creek Quartet, and Extension Chords. He loved the fellowship of the barbershop community, the men and their wives having great fun and forming lasting friendships. Wayne was also a dancer. He joined his daughter’s Celtic dance troop, becoming a favorite partner for many, and was the star of many performances. Wayne leaves a legacy of kindness, joy, laughter, and love. His ability to connect and draw out the best in people (including their stories!) will be greatly missed. There will not be a service as per Wayne’s wishes. A musical event in his memory will be held in the Spring. Arrangements in care of Ashley Knash – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
