It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather on August 15, 2010. Ted was born to Katherine and Ferdinand Steckler on June 23, 1914 in Allan, Saskatchewan. In 1939, he married Edith Sander. They farmed in the Neely, Viscount and Elstow areas. In 1953, they moved to Vancouver and they
returned to Saskatoon in 1957 to resume farming in the Elstow area. Ted’s whole life revolved around farming. He lived and breathed it right to the very end. He was also a family man. There was always a lot of laughter when he was around as he always liked to tease and joke with anyone. Ted leaves to mourn his seven children Bernadette Abel, Pius (Bernadette) Steckler, Doris Struck, Anita (David) Metcalfe, Val (Margaret) Steckler, Emanuel (Joanne) Steckler and Beverley (Pat) Ehnes; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, also numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was predeceased by Edith, his wife of 61 years, in August 2000, his parents, 12 brothers and sisters and two sons-in-law, Conrad Abel and Merlin Struck. A Vigil of Prayer is to be held on Sunday August 29, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Center, 915 Acadia Drive (8th St. and Acadia). The Funeral Liturgy is to be held on Monday August 30, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Parish, 114 Kingsmere Place, with Father Ken Beck as celebrant.
