Sophie Julia Boechler

October 28, 1922 - February 22, 2016

Sophie passed away with her family by her side, at St. Paul's Hospital, at the age of 93 years. She will be greatly missed by her children Sharon (Dave), Peggy (Leo), and Gib (Dawn); six grandchildren Monique (Rob), Remi (Alex), Justin (Joanne), Trina (Greg), Amanda (Bruce), and Dennis (Anna-Maria); and nine great-grandchildren Brian, Dina, Jonah, Anna, Logan, Tyson, Jason, Ella and Bryn. She was the last remaining child of seven, born to Amelia and Vincent Bobiash. She grew up and went to school in the Zelma District until she married Greg in 1944 and moved to Allan, SK. Sophie's husband predeceased her on July 29, 2008 after 64 years of marriage. She was in good health and was able to remain on the farm until the very end. She was an avid card and Bingo player and enjoyed looking after her "herd" of cats. Mom's favorite time was spent surrounded by family, hosting one of her famous "smorg" dinners. Prayers for Sophie will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2016 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 26, 2016. Both services will be held at St. Aloysius Roman Catholic Church, Allan, SK. The Rite of Committal will follow at the St. Aloysius Parish Cemetery in Allan, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatoon SPCA (5028 Clarence Ave, Grasswood, SK S7T 1A7) or to a charity of one's choice.
