Ron was raised on the family farm in Mendham, Saskatchewan where he farmed with his dad and brother and was very active in the community, coaching minor baseball and curling. Ron was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Ron and his family left Mendham in 1989 to pursue a career with Saskatchewan Crop Insurance by moving to Saskatoon. He was very active in the curling community and joined the Nutana Curling Club in 1990 and served as President of Curl Saskatoon and on the board at Nutana Curling club. One of his proudest moments was being inducted into the Saskatchewan Baseball Hall of Fame with his hometown team the Mendham Monarchs. It was extra special because he was inducted with his two sons, Tracey and Troy, and his brother Gerard. Ron was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Toronto Blue Jays, Toronto Maple Leafs, San Francisco 49ers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
Ron wanted to say a special thanks to all the doctors and nurses at the Saskatoon Cancer Clinic and Palliative Care. Also the many volunteers from Prairie Hospice for your caring and friendship which meant a lot to him.
