Bob was born April 9, 1945, in Saskatoon and passed away peacefully with family at his side on March 27, 2022, after a short illness. Bob was born to Peter and Susan (nee Wiebe) Wolfe on April 9, 1945. His first five years were spent in Aberdeen and Osler, SK, then the rest of his life in Saskatoon. Bob graduated high school June 1964 and started work the very next day at the Star Phoenix. On June 28, 1969, he married his best friend, Myrna and raised four children.
Through the years, Bob was involved in many family and community ventures- from being a Beaver, Cub, and Scout leader with Chris and was involved in supporting Myrna and the three girls through Brownies, Guides and Pathfinders. He was awarded the highest honour from the Girl Guides of Canada, Friend of Guiding, for assisting Myrna as Camp Director of the Pike Lake Girl Guide Camp, as well as built the kitchen in the Brownie Hut. He loved farming with his father-in-law and made sure every camping trip to Loon Lake, SK, was enjoyed by the whole family. He handed on his love of building, renovating and power tools to his children, and even built a kitchen for each of them. On April 30, 2006, he retired after 42 years as a journeyman pressman.
While he loved his children fiercely, his grandchildren brought him the greatest joy. Bob babysat Josh every afternoon, taking him on grand adventures to the Co-op Home Centre and the Star Phoenix. He enjoyed his time babysitting Connor when Connor was in part time Kindergarten. With the birth of Josie in 2018, Bob received a new lease on life. His little girl brought him so much love and laughter, especially when they read the Fart Book together, sound effects included.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Myrna (nee Gronning), and by his children: Chris (Judy), Tracey, Andrea, and Michelle (Trevor Hamm). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Joshua Wolfe, Nancy Eze, and Zoe, Connor, and Josie Hamm, and his siblings: Jean, Doreen (Allan MacDonald), Wayne (Gail), Stan (Barb), and many nieces, nephews, and brothers- and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Susan Wolfe.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be held on April 9, 2022, at 1 pm at St. Michael’s Parish (18-33rd St. E.). The funeral service will be live streamed at https://youtu.be/eRRFYM1gZxo Funeral arrangements in care of David Polzen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation ICU Department. Sincere thanks to Doctors Joanis, Valiani, Masri and Sheppard, the nurses, and staff at St. Paul’s Hospital ICU.
