October 19, 1932 – November 3rd, 2021
It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of our Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma, Regina Henrine Bantle (nee Kirzinger) on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021 at home. Regina was born on the farm near Bruno, Saskatchewan on October 19, 1932 to Henrine (Brockman) and Michael Kirzinger. Regina attended high school at St. Ursula’s Academy in Bruno and continued her education to be a teacher at Normal School in Saskatoon. In her lifetime, Mom was a teacher, businesswoman, post mistress and bookkeeper but above all and most importantly, she was a devoted mother and wife. Mom made a point to pass on her Catholic faith and the importance of education to her children and others. She wanted the best for her children and made sure that all her children took piano lessons and went on to post-secondary education. Her children could always count on her for whatever they needed and for encouragement, “Keep your chin up”! Mom was known for her community involvement and her generosity. She recently received her 65 year Catholic Women’s League pin. Mom’s fruitcake, doughnuts, cinnamon buns, squares and excellent meals were not only enjoyed by her immediate family but by many family and friends. Mom was an elegant lady who took great pride in her appearance and appreciated fine clothes and the finer things in life. She would dress up even if she was just going ‘downtown to get the mail’. Mom knew how to have fun and how to appreciate this life: whether it was card games with grandchildren, travelling with friends or even being convinced to drive a motorbike and ride skidoos, “Geener” was always up for an adventure. She enjoyed coffee and conversations with many friends over the years at her home. Mom was a strong-willed and passionate woman, even during her last days. She was a mom and didn’t want to resign from her earthly duty. She had a zest for life and loved living it to the fullest. Regina is survived by her children, Myles (Christopher, Amy), Gwendolyn and Gord Zakreski (Brad and Charnelle, Rylan and Megan), Jacqueline, Jeannine and George Douville (Patrick, Brittney) and Jason, great-granddaughters, Natalisha, Olivia and Emily Zakreski, sister-in-law Erna Kirzinger, Rosemarie Kirzinger, Beryl Bantle, Betty Bantle, brother-in-law Ralph Pauli, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Denis, son Patrick Viol (in infancy), her parents Henrine and Michael, her brothers and sisters Mary (Mike) Kolla, Ted (Florence) Kirzinger, Dina (Joe) Kolla, Wilfred (Agnes) Kirzinger, Joe Kirzinger, Roman (Lorraine) Kirzinger, Alphonse Kirzinger, Leona (Doug) Hall, Ed Kirzinger, Rene Pauli. Brothers and sisters-in-law Mary Bantle, Helen Manderscheid, Walter (Marion) Bantle, Richard Bantle, Ted Bantle and numerous nieces and nephews. The Vigil for Regina will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, November 8th. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 9th with Rev. Fr. Benjamin Ezekwudo as the celebrant. Both services will be held at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Cudworth, SK. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Michael’s Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Michael’s Haven, Box 220, Cudworth, SK S0K 1B0. The family wishes to thank Lou Moore, Sherry Sauvé and Cudworth/Wakaw Home Care Services for their dedicated care. They all helped provide Mom with her final wish to live at home until her passing.
