It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dad and husband, Randall Mackey on November 29, 2019. Randall “Mac” was born on December 10, 1952 in Moose Jaw, SK. He is survived by his wife Kathleen (nee O’Connor), his daughter Amanda Marien (Jason), his son Jordan Mackey (Lindsay) and seven grandchildren: Dylan, Aidan, Cohen, Kendall, Leighton, Saige and Alex of Saskatoon. He is also survived by his brothers Kevin Mackey (Carrie) of Edmonton, Brent Mackey (Darlene) of Moose Jaw, his brothers-in-law Don Gropp (Betty-deceased) and Jerry Gropp (Lydia) of Sceptre, Jim O’Connor (Heather) of Merritt and sister-in-law Josephine Hier (Lyle-deceased) of Leduc. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mac was predeceased by his parents Ruth and Paul Mackey, his mother-in-law Tillie Blondheim and his father-in-law Joe Blondheim. Dad sold major appliances at Sears for 33 years and thoroughly enjoyed ‘shooting the breeze’ with customers and co-workers. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing rugby, golfing, curling, boating, skiing and watching the many activities of his grandchildren. He looked forward to social gatherings and always wanted to be the first one on the dance floor. He also loved reading, watching the History Channel, traveling and discussing sports and politics. Dad could often be seen on the deck with his BBQ tongs in one hand and a Sports Illustrated in the other. He was very handy and helped build fences, decks and finish basements with family and friends. Many happy hours were spent at the lake; he was always the last one up to put out the campfire and the first one up to make coffee in the morning. He will be listening to our campfire stories from somewhere up above. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (#26-1738 Quebec Ave., Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9). A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the new year. Cremation arrangements in care of David Schurr - Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200.
