Randall Stephen Johnston age 64, of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, suffered a series of heart attacks and passed away at Royal University Hospital on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, surrounded by 3 of his children.
Randy was born on December 13, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba to Donald and Joan Johnston. He was one of 3 sons who were raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. His childhood included lots of time spent on Lasko farm where his love of gardening started. The family grew vegetables for Campbell's soup.
At 19 years of age his father moved him to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He worked for CN Rail as a Conductor then retired at a young age to pursue his passion of collecting and selling Antiques.
Randy met his first love Donna and in 1980 they had their first child Shantell. They welcomed a second daughter Breyll in 1983. After Donna and Randy parted ways he met his second wife and together they had 2 sons. When that marriage ended he met Delaine Jolson. They welcomed his youngest son Tyndall in 2001 and daughter Myrrell in 2007.
Randy had big dreams of moving to Nova Scotia. He took Delaine and the kids on a road trip there to check out properties. His dream was shattered as Delaines health declined. After a courageous battle with cancer Delaine passed away in 2018 at the young age of 47. Randy had a hard time with the loss and in turn suffered a massive heart attack in the summer of 2019. He made a miraculous recovery and returned home to Tyndall and Myrrell.
Randy could be described as larger than life and someone you wouldn't forget. He stood 6 foot 4 and was loud when he spoke with no filters. He always had something to say and was quite a storyteller with great details of his life experiences. He had a twisted sense of humor that only a Johnston would understand.
Randy was predeceased by his spouse Delaine Jolson and parents Donald and Stella (nee Lasco)
He leaves behind his children Shantell (Tim), Breyll (Andy), Tyndall, Myrrell and Grandchildren Aiden, Kearin, Kalan, Kyree, Kai, Kaden, Kova, his brothers Barry and Kenny.
The family will mourn him privately and no services will be held. Memorial and Interment of ashes for Delaine and Randy will be held at a later date in Saskatoon Saskatchewan
Arrangements entrusted to Aimé Laventure.
