Ralph Andrew Wiley passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 5, 2012 surrounded by his family. Ralph was born to Andrew and Amanda Wiley, February 8, 1920. He enjoyed his childhood years along with his brothers and sister on the family farm in the Perly District near Saltcoats, Saskatchewan.
In 1941 he enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He served his country with quiet distinction from 1941 to 1946 in England, France, Belgium and Holland.
Ralph married Beryl Everett on June 30, 1948. They had a long and loving marriage for 61 years until Beryl passed away in February of 2009. The spent their early married years in Yorkton and Bredenbury where their three children were born. Ralph operated a garage and service station in Bredenbury from 1956-62. In 1962 the family moved to Saskatoon where Ralph was employed with Massey-Ferguson as a service rep. until his retirement in the early 1980’s.
Ralph and Beryl took pride in their home and garden on McLean Cres. and later moved to a condo in Chalet Gardens where they enjoyed many special friends and activities.
In 2008 Ralph moved to the Sherbrooke Veterans Village where he received excellent care in a home like setting.
Ralph lived a simple, good, honest, hard working life. He was a kindly neighbor, caring husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed the company and good times spent with his siblings and their spouses, nieces and nephews especially grand children and great-grandchildren.
Ralph was predeceased by his son Duncan in 1956 at age 3 years, his loving wife Beryl in 2009, brothers Jack, Fran and Bert Wiley, sister-in-law Dell, sister Ruth Ritchie and brother-in-law Milton Ritchie.
Ralph will be ever loved and fondly remembered by his daughters Glenda (Wayne) Day, Dale Wiley, Grandchildren; Carmen (Brent), Travis (Kristin), Jennifer (Jason), and Kelse and Taylor Ashfield. Great-grand children; Anna, Jane, Seth, Emily, Claire, Ethan, Ava, Tanner, and Jackson. Two sisters-in-laws; Gladys and May Wiley.
The memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Sherbrooke Community Centre Chapel with Rev. Ray Purdie officiating. Interment will follow at a later date in Bredenbury, Saskatchewan.
Memorial donations may be made to House #11, Veteran’s Village, Sherbrooke Community Centre, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK S7H 2E7 or Bredenbury Cemetery Fund, Bredenbury, SK S0A 0H0. Arrangements have been entrusted to Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (955-1600).
