It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter Bramwell of Saskatoon on May 8, 2018 after a long and courageous struggle with Alzheimer’s. Peter leaves behind his loving wife, Donna, son David (Corinne), daughter Paula (Dennis), brother Stanley (Violet), sister Glenis, nephews Christopher and Gordon, and niece Gwen. He was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Rose. Peter was born in 1931 on the family farm near Hyas, Saskatchewan. In his younger years, Peter took a job with Eldorado Nuclear at Port Radium in the Northwest Territories. Peter met his wife to be, Donna, in Edmonton and they married in 1961. The couple settled in Saskatoon where they would stay and raise their family. Peter worked most of his career at the potash mine at Patience Lake, near Saskatoon, eventually becoming the Plant Production Foreman. An avid recreational pilot, Peter made many trips into the north. He was always thrilled to have an often less than thrilled friend or family member accompany him on these hair-raising aerial adventures of dodging thunderstorms or night flying across expanses of northern forest with no lights or landmarks and only a radio beacon to guide the way. Peter also loved nature, particularly wild birds, and his eclectic garden where he cultivated many native plant species. Peter and Donna enjoyed travelling around Saskatchewan to summer fiddling festivals and searching for elusive native plants for his garden. Peter will be fondly remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, wit and his thunderous laugh. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018 in the chapel at Sherbrooke Community Centre, 401 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon with Chaplain Mark Trew presiding. The family would like to thank the staff of Sherbrooke Community Centre and Mourning Glory Funeral Services for their care and support during this difficult time. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada.
