March 20, 1940 – October 15, 2015
Malcolm Mellesmoen (Mac) died peacefully at home on the morning of Thursday, October 15. Mac passed quietly without any pain. His family was blessed to be able to say their goodbyes, surrounding him with love. Mac’s greatest joy was his family. He took great pride in his seven grandchildren: Stephanie (20), Brady (17), Ally (17), Bobby (8), Eva (5), Maggie (2) and Charlie (2). Mac was born on the family farm near Renown on March 20, 1940. In 1963, he married Paulette Cavanaugh and they raised their family of four children in Watrous. In 1997, Mac and Paulette moved to Saskatoon to enjoy their retirement and remain near their family. Mac spent many happy hours in his yard, gardening and tending the lawn. He was very involved in his twelve step program, for over forty years, and made many good friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Paulette; his children, Brad, Susan (Brian Arthurs), Bruce (Krista), and Sandra (Steven Grmidolov); his brother, Leonard; sister, Darlene (Steele); and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Alvin Buckwold Kinsmen Children’s Centre (1319 Colony Street, Saskatoon, SK S7N 2Z1) would be most gratefully appreciated. A Service to Honour Malcolm will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 18th at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor St, off Warman Rd). Reception to follow.
