August 21, 1947 - May 11, 2021
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Edwards, beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend of many.
Larry grew up on a farm outside of Bladworth. After earning his education degree at the University of Saskatchewan he taught for a few years in northern Saskatchewan, as well as a year in Australia. He completed his teaching career in Saskatoon. While teaching in Saskatoon, Larry met Jan. She was the love of his life and they married in 1980.
After retiring from teaching, Larry was able to pursue his love of farming fulltime and commuted often between Saskatoon and their farm near Bladworth. He found pleasure and satisfaction being in the fields and he enjoyed puttering about fixing this and that, and keeping Jan's garden alive. Family and friends also loved visiting the farm. Many happy hours were spent and memories made around the campfire being entertained by Larry. He had the unique gift of finding humour in everyday life and he was a captivating storyteller who made people laugh aloud. Many of his stories and antics are already legendary among his nieces and nephews.
Larry also loved watching the wildlife that visited the farm and some of his memorable stories humorously captured the lives of the owls he especially loved, and who returned each year. Larry also enjoyed sitting on the deck 'shooting the breeze' with friends and he would help others at a moment's notice.
Larry and Jan enjoyed camping and had many RV adventures exploring Saskatchewan, as well as the other western provinces. They accomplished their goal of visiting every province in Canada with a fabulous trip to Newfoundland in 2019. Warmer climes beckoned in winter and they made many return trips to Hawaii, Arizona, and Texas. In all seasons, Larry read voraciously. He often finished a book in a day.
Larry will be greatly missed by many and will live forever in the hearts of Jan and his family.
A Celebration of Larry's life will be held this summer on a date and location to be determined. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to STARS Helicopter Air Ambulance. To share memories and condolences visit www.mourningglory.ca.
