Musician and retired truck driver Joseph Raymond Klyne passed away on August 14th, 2023, at 8:15 pm in St. Paul’s Palliative Care at the age of 80, after a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was surrounded by loved ones while his favorite songs played.
Born in Arcola, Saskatchewan, on June 9th, 1943, Joseph was one of eleven siblings, having nine brothers and one sister. He studied at Grant MacEwan in Edmonton, Alberta, in 1973. Prior to that, he was a performer with musical groups in Winnipeg, MB. Jazz music was his first love, closely followed by country music. He held a deep admiration for artists like Lenny Breau and Chet Atkins, dedicating his spare time to study. Additionally, he enjoyed playing with his sons in various country music ensembles, passing down his passion for music to the next generation.
Joseph’s primary focus was caring for his wife of 56 years and their three children. Music served as his means of connecting with the world. He is survived by his wife Darlene, as well as his son Russell, daughter Jacqueline (Dayne), son Kris (Lisa), and his grandchildren Skyler, Emmalee, Keenan, Davis, and Benson.
While Joseph’s absence will be deeply felt, his memory will endure through the musical gifts and laughter he shared with everyone around him.
A family Celebration of life will be held at a later date.
