Joseph Omer Degagne

Omer DeGagne passed away on Monday February 20, 2023 at the age of 72. He fought a courageous but short journey with cancer. He was born on March 23, 1950. He resided in Saskatoon for the past 45 years. On August 11, 1973 he married Melva Gaudet. Together they raised 4 amazing children; Martin (Bonnie) DeGagne, Riley, Jaden; Trevor DeGagne; Daniel (Jenny) DeGagne, Chanel, William; Claudette (Trevor) DeGagne-Ellis, Payton, Ashlyn. Also left to cherish his memory are his siblings Doris, Marcel, and Léone, and his in-laws Lise and Robert. Omer has gone to join his parents William and Simone DeGagne; siblings André, Yvette, Denise, Murielle, Rita and Claire; in-laws Harvey Grimard, Georgina DeGagne and Terry Morash.

Omer began his career as a cook in a restaurant. When he and Melva moved to Saskatoon, he began a business as a painter alongside his brothers. He then took interest in home renovations. Omer was very creative and you could often find him in his garage building projects out of wood. He was also a dedicated Knights of Columbus member at Saints-Martyrs Parish.

Omer’s utmost prides and joys were his children and grandchildren. He instilled the importance of connecting with family. Many memories include trips to see extended family, family reunions and hunting with his boys, grandkids, brothers, uncles and cousins. He was always ready to give a helping hand to those who asked. He will be greatly cherished and missed by all who knew him.
