It is with sadness, we announce the passing of Jack Chin on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He died peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer for 1 ½ years, spending his last months with his son and family in Edmonton. He was predeceased by his wife Susan in 2005. He leaves to mourn; son, Joe (Lily), grandsons Garrett, Sheldon (Amy); son, Gordon (Wendy), grandchildren Chelsea, Matthew and Breanna; daughter, Lily Wong (Frank), grandchildren Jeremy, Amanda and Justin; son, Ivan (Judy) grandchildren Ethan, Cianna and Amaya; nieces and nephews, Jane Ng; Edwin Chan (Kim), Joyce and Calvin; Daniel Chan (Dawn); Lily Lai (Vincent); Rosaline So (Shawn); Mrs. So Ngor Yu( Mo and Mike); May Lau (Janet Chung), Jack and Maureen Ng (Martin and Delaney), Julian, Jonah; James and CY ,Dillon; Jeffrey; Ning Jong and family; Ning Bong and family.
Jack was born in Hoi Yin, Canton, China on April 13, 1930. He immigrated to Canada (Eatonia, SK) in his 20’s and worked in the hotel business before he managed the Friendly Store in Eatonia for over 40 years. He brought wife Susan and son to Eatonia in 1958. Thereafter he had three more children. He was a hard worker and worked 6 ½ days a week seldom taking time off. His goal was to provide for his family and send all the children to University for higher education. His passion was family and running a successful business, with little time for anything else. He also supported many relatives on both sides, both emotionally and financially, many of whom eventually were sponsored to Canada. He retired in 1995 and moved to Saskatoon, where he and Susan lived until her passing in 2005, eventually moving to Edmonton in 2011. We will miss him very much. The Funeral Service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (915 Acadia Dr.) with Rev. J. Wilson Kaan officiating. Interment will follow in the Chinese Section of Woodlawn Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Penny Aadland of Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre (955-1600).
