Irene Hauser was born September 17, 1931 at Torquay SK to John and Monica Bachmeier, the first of 14 children. She was predeceased by her first husband John Hientz in October 1966, and leaves behind her current husband Don Hauser whom she married in 1968. She also leaves behind her children Marilyn Herbert (Ron), John Hientz (Jean), Michael Hientz (Val), Leslie Hientz (Janet), Diana Fletcher (Dallas), Glen Hauser (Kathy), and Cheryl Kowalski (Keith), 10 brothers 6 of whom predeceased her, 3 sisters, and 19 grandchildren of whom 2 predeceased her, and 24 great grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her kind and humble nature, with a great sense of humour and a love for playing card games, word games, crosswords, and Scrabble. She was a talented seamstress (often without patterns) did alterations, made award winning costumes, lovely quilts, grew a huge garden, cut and permed hair, upholstered furniture, made delicious pies, drew fun caricatures, and of course she gave the fruits of her labour away with unmatched generosity. She led a knitting group at St Philip Church and organized for I-cross Canada the production of 1000's of teddy bears for war torn countries, many prayer shawls, and 100's of pairs of mittens for inner city kids. She was sweet and friendly to everyone she met, gave out compliments and genuinely treated every person like they were her favourite. She will be loved and missed by all who had the privilege of spending time with her. In lieu of flowers, gifts to Glengarda Hospice would be appreciated. They gave excellent end of life and compassionate care in her final days. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday September 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Avenue South). Rite of Committal to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Chelsea Krentz.
