She was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy in Bathurst New Brunswick. Her positions of employment included Taxation, The Postal Service, Retail Management, Managing a Golf Course, Catering and various other endeavours. Wherever she went she was acknowledged for her superior service.
Love of family was her Hallmark as she was never shy to say “I love you”, we heard it everyday. She supported our decisions, encouraged our endeavours, and was generous beyond belief. A better Mother, Grandmother, or Great grandmother would be impossible. Christmas was her second love. The decorations so lovingly displayed, the carols all year long, her belief in the magic of the season, abundant banquets prepared with love will be a lasting memory. She knew how to celebrate. Her life was measured by Christmases not years. Of course her Christmas traditions were rooted in her faith that was so important to her. Her years of church ministry were a priority. You could find her missal on her kitchen table and hear her practicing the upcoming readings. Irenes’ hand work was a work of art. Like everything she did in life it was done to perfection. Never a stitch out of place whether it be her cross stitch, hardanger or crochet. Love was engrained in every stitch and given to her family to enjoy. Her treasures will adorn our homes and be a reminder her devotion. Her culinary talents were unbelievable, no matter what she made it was delicious. Her memory was extraordinary and we often marvelled how quickly she could retrieve any detail from any decade. All of those involved in her care held a special place in her heart.
She will be missed yet be rest assured her memories will be carried in our hearts forever. Words could never express how truly amazing she was. If you were lucky enough to know her, you were blessed.
If the saying God takes the best is true we are definitely assured that she is resting in the loving embrace of our heavenly Father and will be reunited with a tea party and music by those who have gone before her.
Your life was a blessing.
Your memory a treasure.
You are loved beyond words.
You will be missed beyond measure.
