Guy Joseph Léonce Castilloux

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Guy Joseph Léonce Castilloux, who passed away suddenly on December 23, 2024 at the age of 70 in Saskatoon, SK. Guy was a beloved husband, father, father-in-law, “Pépère”, brother and friend. He was born in Newport, Gaspé Peninsula, Quebec on May 31, 1954 to Benjamin and Aurélie Castilloux.

He was very proud to be from a family of 20 children. He joined the military at 18 years old and served for 3 years. He then was a trained lineman and worked in Alberta and Manitoba. Eventually, he landed in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan driving for Coca-Cola for 5 years followed by Pepsi-Cola. In Prince Albert is where he met his wife Jacqueline (née Bezaire). He transferred to Saskatoon in 1989 and retired there after 30 years of service.

His friends and family will miss his unique sense of humour with his often-repeated jokes. He had a love for family and was always ready to go out of his way to help out his daughter Chantal (Jeffrey Caissie) and grandson Benjamin. He had pride in his “Francophonie” and a passion for the guitar, the Montreal Canadiens and fishing with his brother Réjean.

He is predeceased by his parents, his brothers Émilien, Salomon, Aimé, Bernard, Benjamin, Richard and Sylvain and his sisters Bérénice, Lucille and Clara. He leaves behind his wife of 36 years Jacqueline, daughter Chantal, son-in-law Jeffrey, grandson Benjamin, brothers André, Ramel, Robert, Réjean, Donald and Luc, sisters Raymonde, Louise and Cécile, his best buddies and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Thank you to all the wonderful staff who took great care of him at St. Paul’s Hospital and the team who have cared for him over the years.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 am on January 3, 2025 at Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens. Arrangements are in care of Aimé Laventure – Mourning Glory Funeral Services (306) 978-5200. C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Guy Joseph Léonce Castilloux, décédé subitement le 23 décembre 2024 à l'âge de 70 ans à Saskatoon, en Saskatchewan. Guy était un époux, père, beau-père, Pépère, frère et ami bien-aimé. Il est né à Newport, Gaspésie, Québec le 31 mai 1954, fils de feu Benjamin et Aurélie Castilloux.

Il était très fier de faire partie d'une famille de 20 enfants. Il a rejoint l'armée à 18 ans et a servi pendant 3 ans. Il a ensuite été monteur de ligne et a travaillé en Alberta et au Manitoba. Finalement, il s’est retrouvé à Prince Albert, en Saskatchewan, comme camionneur pour Coca-Cola pendant 5 ans, suivi de Pepsi-Cola. C'est à Prince Albert qu'il a rencontré son épouse Jacqueline (née Bezaire). Il a accepté un transfert à Saskatoon en 1989 où il a pris sa retraite après 30 ans de service.

Son sens de l'humour unique avec ses blagues souvent répétées sera manqué par sa famille et ses amis. Il avait un grand amour pour sa famille et était toujours prêt à aider sa fille Chantal (Jeffrey Caissie) et son petit-fils Benjamin. Il était fier de son identité francophone et passionné de la guitare, des Canadiens de Montréal et de la pêche avec son frère Réjean.

Il est précédé par ses parents, ses frères Émilien, Salomon, Aimé, Bernard, Benjamin, Richard et Sylvain et ses sœurs Bérénice, Lucille et Clara. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse de 36 ans Jacqueline, sa fille Chantal, son gendre Jeffrey, son petit-fils Benjamin, ses frères André, Ramel, Robert, Réjean, Donald et Luc, ses sœurs Raymonde, Louise et Cécile, plusieurs frères et belles-sœurs, neveux et nièces et ses meilleurs amis.

Merci à tout le merveilleux personnel qui a pris bien soin de lui à l’Hôpital St. Paul et à l’équipe qui a pris soin de lui au fil des années.

La messe funéraire chrétienne aura lieu le 3 janvier 2025 à 10h30 à l'église des Saints-Martyrs-Canadiens.
