Glen passed away peacefully at Sherbrooke Community Centre following a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He is survived by his loving wife Beverly; daughter Erin (Nadeem); son Mark; granddaughter Mira and sisters Caroll Watson and Joan Wilson. Glen was born in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Marion and Ora (O.K.) Watson and grew up on the family farm near Abbey, Saskatchewan. He met Beverly while both were students at the University of Saskatchewan. Glen went on to receive his bachelors, masters and later doctorate from this institution. Following their marriage in 1967, the couple moved to Seattle, Washington where Glen worked for the Boeing Airplane Company. They returned to Saskatoon two years later in order for Glen to continue his education. Saskatoon became their permanent home and both children were born there – Erin in 1972 and Mark in 1981. Glen worked at the University of Saskatchewan for many years, first at the Transportation Centre and later as a faculty member in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. As well as being an engineering professor, Glen served for a time as the Head of the Division of Biomedical Engineering and was involved in the planning of the Biomedical Beamline at the Canadian Light Source. A strong believer in physical activity, Glen could often be seen riding his bike or in the winter cross –country skiing. He both competed and coached others in these sports. He served as president of the Saskatoon Cycling Club and was head of the provincial organization. Glen’s other interests included photography and both he and Bev were members of the Saskatoon Camera Club for many years. He had a lifelong passion for learning which he shared with family members, students and friends. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sherbrooke Community Centre, in particular the staff and residents of House Two for their loving care and concern. They would like to gratefully acknowledge the wonderful support and friendships extended by the Saskatoon Branch of the Alzheimer Society.
