On December 31, 1972, Gabriel was born to his loving parents Robert and Sylvia in Saskatoon. Despite health complications and exceptionalities from the onset, he enjoyed his childhood with his siblings Daniel, Maria, and Angela and his friends. He developed a love of farm animals – especially cows, which became his true passion. Much of his childhood revolved around visits to the farm of Ruth and Wilf Buhler.
Gabe graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1995. He was a dedicated flyer and newspaper carrier with the Saskatoon Star Phoenix for many years including throughout the harsh Saskatchewan winters. He was also employed at Fuddruckers and subsequently with University of Saskatchewan Food Services.
An enthusiastic music lover and avid recycler, Gabe had a wild sense of humour and a deep curiosity. He had an extraordinary talent for making people laugh. His jokes, playful spirit, infectious laughter and mischievous smile will be fondly remembered. He was involved in Special Olympics programs and enjoyed bowling with family and friends.
As an adult, Gabriel was able to develop his own home and household through the support of Saskatchewan Alternative Initiatives (SAI). Through SAI’s programs and supports, Gabe established deep lasting friendships and cultivated new passions in painting and arts.
