Our beautiful mom and Baba passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2017 with her family at her side. She was predeceased by her husband Ray, son Ron, parents John and Polly Hunchak, and 6 siblings Nick (Amelia) Hunchak, Anne (Frank) Lukowich, Mervyn (Pat) Hunchak, Olena Hunchak, Mary (David) Faye and Rose Hunchak. Elizabeth was born on April 18, 1926 in Hafford and was raised on the family farm. Times were tough and money was scarce but she learned to work hard and be thankful for her family and all that they had. She received her nursing diploma at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. In 1949 she married Ray and they lived in numerous communities in Saskatchewan where Ray taught school. They spent 20 years residing in Kennedy. They were blessed with 7 children: Ron, Donna, Nadine, Ken (Bonnie), Cliff (Judy), Karen Sylvester (Don) and Chris. Mom was a wonderful loving mother and was dedicated to raising her children in a faith-filled home. Mom was only 48 years old when dad died. She pursued her love for learning by moving to Saskatoon and obtaining her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Psychology. She worked at the University Hospital, Regional Psychiatric Centre and Elrose Nursing Home as Director of Care. She enjoyed the arts and writing articles and poetry. Mom was so proud of her 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and took much pride in teaching them to play chess and bridge and watching their many activities. She loved all the family get-togethers. We would like to sincerely thank the staff at Quality Nursing Home for their utmost care and love for mom. At Mom’s request, a private relative and family service will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Family with Very Rev. Fr. David Tumback as Celebrant. God bless Mom.
