Elizabeth “Bess” Hayes Candline (nee Briggs) passed away in Edmonton, AB on May 29, 2013 at the age of 86 years. Bess was born on May 27, 1927 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Annie and Matthew Briggs. On October 25, 1946 she married the love of her life, Jack Candline. Bess was a homemaker and also worked at Nordon Drugs in Saskatoon. She was a caring person who devoted her time as a Cancer Recovery Councilor and as a volunteer at the Gift Shop at University Hospital for over 35 years. She was also an active member of McClure United Church, and a member of the U of S Hospital Auxilliary. Bess liked being active: golfing, bowling and as a member of Curves. She also enjoyed going on cruises, and attending her grandson, Keith’s graduation from University in Daytona Beach. Family was very important to her, especially Christmas’ spent with the great grandkids. Elizabeth was predeceased by her mother and father, Annie and Matthew Briggs; husband, Jack Candline; brother, Ron; and daughter in law, Gail. She is lovingly remembered by her son, Bill of Winnipeg, MB; grandson, Keith (Michelle) and great grandkids, Madeline and Jack of Savannah, GA; and sisters, Eileen of Edmonton, AB and Sadie of Cleveland, Ohio.
