Daddy! I’m going to be a nurse! I wish you were still here to watch me prepare for the school year. I wish you were here to say “Bil’ mo ‘ko” one last time. I’m sorry it took so long but I’m making it happen now. Thank you for believing in me when you told Mama Mora, “Si Joyce na lang ang babawi para sakin.” In your eyes you had a lot of shortcomings, but to me, you were the best Daddy for always trying your best. Because of you, I try my best not to complain. I try my best to work hard and be a respectable God-fearing woman so people know you raised a good daughter even though you didn’t get everything right. You are my greatest inspiration, Daddy. My fighting spirit is strong because of you. Everything I do, I do it for you and Mommy. Thank you for loving me even when I’m unlovable. Thank you for always giving to me out of your scarcity. Thank you for being a strong Dad who protected me from all evil. Thank you for leading me to Jesus Christ. Please always be by my side. It’s been three years since you left us, and missing you has not gotten easier. I’m a woman now, but I still feel like the little girl you left behind. Many days have passed without you, but I’ll never get used to the feeling of missing you. I miss my dad, my protector, my haven. I’m scared 24/7 of fears I’ve created in my head. I wish you were still here to tell me everything is okay and not to be scared of anything. I’ll never forget you, and I try my best to do better every day. I love you, and I miss you.
