David Gilbert Just of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at the age 83 years at Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Friday January 6, 2023 with his beloved wife Lyn and family by his side. David was born on January 9, 1939 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan to Martin and Hulda Just of Yorton, the 8th of eight children. He was brought up on the family farm near Orcadia, Saskatchewan and took his elementary schooling at the Orkney Stone School very near the farm. He then went to the Yorkton Collegiate Institute in Yorkton. He farmed on the family farm with his father and his brother Lyle. David married Auralyn “Lyn” Johnson on June 17, 1961 and together they had two children, a daughter, Sharilyn and a son, Gregory David. After the birth of their children David decided to go back to school and completed two years at St. Joseph’s in Yorkton and one session of summer of school at the University of Regina. David began working at Morris Rod Weeder Co. Ltd. In Yorkton as the Service Manager on March 13, 1967. He travelled throughout Canada and the Northern U.S. as Service Manager. In 1974, David and his family moved to Saskatoon where he was transferred with Morris. Shortly after moving to Saskatoon, he transferred into the Sales Department with Morris and became the District Sales Manager for the company working out of Saskatoon. In 1986 he was transferred to Regina and continued as the District Sales Manager working out of Regina. David received many sales and service awards for Morris during his over 30 years with them. He kept in contact over his retirement years with many of his dealers, who were not only dealers to him, but were his close friends. He loved working with the farmers as well as his dealers, and he reminisced about them constantly right up to the time of his passing. He absolutely loved his years with Morris. One of his great joys during his working years was working alongside George Morris. David’s hobby for many years has been collecting first edition and special edition toy tractors. He also enjoyed his 1957 Ford Retractable Convertible which he bought in 1978. He restored it and David and Lyn travelled to Ford Shows and gathered with other Ford Enthusiasts for annual Hanson Ford picnic in the Valley on #2 highway in Saskatchewan. David enjoyed working with metal and stone, and his stonemasonry work was a real work of art and can still be viewed at their homes in Yorkton, Regina and Saskatoon and the wonderful stone pillars that David constructed at the Orkney Cemetery and the Orkney United Church near Orcadia Saskatchewan. The cemetery and the church are across the road from Orkney stone school where he took his early schooling. David was a long time member of the Orkney Historical Society as well as the United Commercial Travelers (U.C.T). Over the years David and Lyn went on many trips to Hawaii, the Caribbean, Europe and many destinations in the U.S. and Canada. After retirement they spent their winters in Victoria, B.C.,the first years staying in their 5th wheel trailer at the West Bay Marina in Victoria where they made many friends.
