It is with great sadness that we announce Cory’s passing. Cory was born on October 23, 1957 to Peter and Mary Klassen. He grew up in the Pambrun, Kincaid, Vanguard area of Saskatchewan. Cory loved hockey and while growing up, Cory was often found in the hockey rinks of the area. Cory was a huge fan of the Edmonton Oilers. He was eager to place a bet on them or discuss news related stories or stats of his favourite team. Cory’s young adult career was a carpet installer, but knee injuries made it impossible to continue in that line of work, so he pursued his 1A license and became a truck driver. He worked as a long haul truck driver for RSB Logistics in Saskatoon for 25 years and earned several awards, one being for driving 1 million miles accident free.
Cory was predeceased by his parents and brother, Larry Abramenko and is survived by his brother Jim Klassen (wife Faye), his sister Verna Czuj (husband Ron), common-law wife Lillian Kostiuk, his daughter Jessica Bernard, his grandchildren Rilynn and Bryson Bernard, his step-daughter Shella Kostiuk and her husband James Marksteiner, step grandsons Kyle (and his wife Kaitlin), Korbin (and his wife Megan) and Jacob. Step great granddaughters Olivia, Aspen, Merella and Maisie. Also left to cherish his memory are a number of nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Cory’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Windsor Chapel (704 Windsor Street Saskatoon). Donations in Cory’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements entrusted to Aimé Laventure.
