It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Catherine Helen Rodin (nee Sutherland), passed away on Tuesday, October 1st. She is survived by her sons Colin (Lani) and Malcolm (Christina) and her daughter Beverly (Jim); grandchildren, Meghan (Shane) Groff, Alexander Rodin, Sean (Sally) Hagan, Adele (Paul) Hagan and Jody Ans; great-grandchildren: Emma, Sawyer, Norah, Lochlan, Dryden and Mason, Sullivan and Elizabeth. Catherine was predeceased by her husband Alfred, son Alister (Lorraine), parents Annie and Hugh Sutherland, and all her siblings. Catherine was born and raised in Eston, Saskatchewan on the family farm along with her five siblings. She met her husband Al at University and they started married life moving from place to place for Al's career before settling for good in Saskatoon in 1965. Catherine was a lifelong learner and a strong advocate for higher education. She obtained her Bachelor of Education, taught English as a Second Language and sign language. Catherine's creative endeavours included millinery, sewing, needlework and cake decorating. She loved beautiful fabrics, lace, antiques, fine china and admired a well set table. Catherine's home was filled with music - she was an accomplished pianist and she encouraged her children to study and enjoy music as well. Catherine devoted her life to her marriage and to her children. She will truly be missed. In keeping with Catherine’s wishes she was privately laid to rest with her husband Alfred at Woodlawn Cemetery in Saskatoon.
