I wish for something, that I’ll have forever, but never hold

Carolyn “C.R.” Ruth Thomas passed away in Saskatoon on December 17, 2020 at the age of 76 years. This poem was found on an envelope in Carolyn’s handwriting, possibly written by her. This is one of thousands of examples showing the multifaceted, creative, artistic person that Carolyn was. She sewed of amazing clothing, knitter, jewelry maker, craft creator. So many amazing talents in one person. Carolyn loved music and television and always had it playing in her home and when she ran chores she listened on her headphones. Never without her iPod. There is a line in the play Hamilton “do what it takes to survive”. That sums up Carolyn. Going from Harris to Edmonton for marriage, moved to Saskatoon for divorce and to be a single mother. Carolyn had a lot of adversity in her life, but she found a way to get through. A good example is at the age of 65, she was delivering papers and flyers as a job. Something many people half her age would not attempt to do. The greatest love of her life (besides her children) were her animals. The one comfort of her leaving too soon is she is reunited with her beloved Mack, Hope, Angel, Teddy, Ollie, Zowie, Mischief and Sandy. There are many more, but these eight were her fur family and when they passed, Carolyn shone less brightly. In lieu of flowers, please sponsor an animal in her honour in a shelter or rescue foundation. Rescuing an animal honours her greatly as she was passionate about the cause.
