Caroline Magdaline Aikens

Caroline was born in the Senlac District in 1937. She met the love of her life, Edward Aikens and they were married in St. John’s Roman Catholic Church, a little country church in the Senlac area, in 1957.

Caroline was a true homemaker. She learned a great deal from her mother-in-law about cooking and became an excellent cook. Caroline enjoyed raising her children. She had helped to raise her younger siblings with the untimely passing of their own mother.

Caroline and Ed started their family while living in the Senlac area and then over the years made moves to Unity, Kamsack, Redvers, Maple Creek and Wadena. The settled in Saskatoon for a number of years, first working as apartment caretakers and then retiring into a seniors apartment building in the city. They enjoyed this spot for many years, but in 2015 made a move to Windthorst to live nearer to their son Doug and his family. Eventually health needs would force a move for Caroline into long-term care. Her failing eyesight was difficult for Caroline but she continued to enjoy visits with her family.

While living in Saskatoon, Caroline enjoyed being an active part of the St. Philip Neri Roman Parish. She was a member of the CWL.

Caroline was predeceased by her parents as well as by her sisters: Margaret, Theresa, Katherine and brothers: John, Vincent and Tony.

Caroline is lovingly remembered by her husband Ed and their children: Stan (Helen), Doug (Teresa) and Rita (Bruce); grandchildren: Justin, Alison (Mike), Chelsea (Tim), Colin (Kelly), Bethany (Derek), Kendra, Alexander (Ennessa) and Rebecca (Julian) and nine great grandchildren. Caroline is also survived by her sisters Helen and Evelyn.

Memorial donations to a charity of choice may be made in Caroline’s memory.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at St. Philip Neri Parish (1902 Munroe Avenue South, Saskatoon). Rite of Committal to follow the reception.
