The passing of Anne Chomyn of Saskatoon occurred at her residence Saturday January 8, 2011 at the age of 86 years. She is survived by her children Josie (Cam) Scheelhaase of Regina, Peter (Barb) Chomyn of Edmonton, Dave (Eunice) Chomyn of Courtney, B.C., Raymond (Sharon) Chomyn of Saskatoon, Walter (Denise) Chomyn of Calgary, Cameron (Carol) Chomyn of Calgary, her sister Mary Wintonyk of Saskatoon, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as several distant relatives. She was predeceased by her parents Nick and Anastasia, a daughter Olga Funk in 1971, her husband Mike in 1995, 2 sisters and five brothers. Anne was born on the farm near Carmel, SK on November 1, 1924, where she grew up and went to school. She married Mike Chomyn in 1943 and they had seven children. Mike and Anne lived in several communities until coming to Saskatoon in 1968 to make their home. She worked at various jobs; but enjoyed and excelled in making drapes. Anne will be remembered for her baking especially her apple pies which she readily gave away to her children and friends. Anne had many hobbies and craft ideas, crocheting, knitting and sewing etc. In the last 10 years she loved to travel and visit her children and grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother and sister.
The Vigil of Prayer will be held Wednesday, January 12 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 13 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Rev. Father Dmytro Dnistrian C.Ss.R. Both services are being held at Acadia-McKague’s Funeral Centre, 915 Acadia Drive. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorial Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
