Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Valerie; daughter Leigh (Dustin) McDonald; son Marc Wilson; grandchildren Charlee and Austin McDonald. Also survived by sisters-in-law Eileen, Jeannette and Pauline Heinen; brother-in-law Ron Wallace; nephews Rick Mercer, Ryan Bucknum, Lane Wallace.
Andy was predeceased by parents Harold (Hobb) & Dorothy Wilson and sister Lorraine Wallace.
Andy was born and raised in Saskatoon attending Mount Royal and Bedford Road Collegiates. Retail was his chosen profession starting with the Hudsons Bay Co. for 25 years, followed by many other furniture stores within the city.
In his early adult years he was a very avid bowler – 3-4 nights a week.
Andy met the love of his life, Valerie Heinen, in 1971 and after dating for 4 months they were engaged. Their marriage occurred on May 5, 1973 and have enjoyed almost 50 years of marriage. Daughter Leigh was born in 1976 followed by son Marc in 1977.
Andy was very involved with his church. He loved to sing in the choir, especially with the Knights of Columbus Choir. Being a long time member with the Knights of Columbus Council #8215 kept him busy volunteering and serving on many levels within the organization. Working at the Craven Music Jamboree, Bingos, KC Indoor Games, Steak Frys, Pancake Breakfasts were a few of the events he thrived working at.
In his retirement years he decided to be a Shuttle Driver for Merlin Ford until the city traffic got to be too much for him.
Andy enjoyed feeding the birds in his yard, going for walks, playing cards and going for coffee or a beer with friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10: 30 a.m. on Wednesday January 25, 2023 from the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road. Saskatoon). Rite of Committal will be at Woodlawn Cemetery for family only on Friday January 27, 2023. The family would like to thank the wonderful care of staff at RUH 6th Floor, St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care and the Hospice at Glengarda.
