Our beautiful mother Alice Hounjet (nee Raymond) passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on September 11, 2022 at the age of 92 surrounded and supported by the love of her family. Alice will be dearly missed by: her two sisters, Germaine (Armand Grisé) and Thérèse (Joe Mercier); two sisters-in-law Pauline Raymond and Caroline Raymond; her children, Daniel (Hélène Cheff), Gisèle Bell, Maurice (Alice Fontaine), Céline, Jean-Paul (Anna Morrison), Yvonne (David Kyba), Aline (Pat Korol); her son-in-law Louis Roth, her 25 grand-children and 39 great grand-children. Alice was predeceased by her parents Augustine and Joseph Raymond, her siblings Roland, Sr. Gisèle (FDLP), Irène (Fontaine), Louis, Arthur, John, her sister-in-law Lucille Raymond, her husband Joseph Hounjet, her daughter Denise Hounjet-Roth, her brother-in-law Ernest Fontaine, and son-in-law Ross Bell. She will be remembered mostly for her smile and twinkle in her eyes, her sacrificial love, her resilience, her endless gratitude, her great sense of humour (pranks), her countless funny expressions, “une femme bien vivante et au rire facile”. She never complained about aches and pains. Of great importance to her was her faith, her work ethic, her family, and the pro-life movement. She was an active member and advocate of her church, school and municipal communities. She had too many talents to enumerate. The family wishes to thank Dr. Anderson, Dr. Ali, the palliative care nurses, home health care aids and especially Celine, our sister, for caring for our dear mother these past eight years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alstrom Syndrome International (http:www.alstrom.org/), Chalice (445 Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville, NS, B4C 2S1), or to the Priest Retirement Fund. The Vigil for Alice will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday Sept. 19 and the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday Sept. 20. Both services will be held at the Cathedral of the Holy Family (123 Nelson Road) with her grandson, Rev. Fr. Gregory Roth as the Celebrant. Right of Committal to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
