Winnifred E Gillette

Winnifred Elenore Gillette, Air Force Lt Col Ret, passed away at the age of 93 on April 19, 2023. After attending nursing school, she enlisted in the Air Force. The military sent her to the University of Pennsylvania where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. During her career she served in numerous leadership positions. She served as a Flight Nurse during Vietnam and traveled the world. Winnifred retired from the Air Force in 1973 and went on to be the Assistant Director of Nursing at Sarasota Memorial Hospital for 10 years. She also had a Ceramic Shop business in Sarasota with her sister Elizabeth for 15 years.

Winnifred Elenore Gillette leaves behind a sister, Elizabeth Harrington, and several nieces and nephews, Marsha Maisey, Avery Harrington, David Harrington, Mark Harrington and their extended families.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 29, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Palms Memorial Park, 170 Honore Ave, Sarasota FL 34232, followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM.
